Today will be our first ever outing at the Little Penang Street Market.
We're totally unprepared of course, but it's the experience that counts I think... haha!
Let's see what happens!

Welcome to Pink Hibiscus Club!
The Pink Hibiscus was formed in 2004 when a group of ladies and two gentlemen got together to discuss what we could that would be fun and educational, particularly to those living a cosmopolitan lifestyle in Penang.

We decided to harness the strengths and interests of the core members of the group and focus on promoting the Japanese culture to the Penang people.
Amongst the myriad of Japan-related clubs, we felt that we could still contribute to the society because:-
1) our members are either Japanese married to locals or are of mixed Japanese & Malaysian heritage, and thus have the ‘inside knowledge’ of what makes the Japanese culture
2) our members speak either one or all of the local languages so that there’s no communication barriers
3) our unique position as a “Malaysian-Japanese” enables us to see and understand issues and perhaps offer helpful perspectives.
Our objectives are as follows:
1) We strive to be an effective bridge for cultural exchange between Japanese nationals and Malaysians in Penang
2) We advocate ‘Hands-On’ Japanese experience for participants. What that means is that participants get to actually wear Kimonos, as oppose to just watch a kimono fashion show; or actually learn and perform a Japanese dance, as oppose to just watching Japanese people dancing
3) We provide genuine opportunities for both Japanese and Malaysians to meet and have meaningful discussions on what it is like to be a Japanese or vice versa, a Malaysian
4) We strive to introduce new sustainable and easy technologies or trends from Japan that are beneficial to the environment and the society that we live in
5) We encourage positive educational environment for children, stressing on the importance of being multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-facetted to foster the growing numbers of “international citizens”
